The Ridgway R-2 School District is a highly individualized public school, whose mission is to prepare all students for success in a changing world by providing them with a rich and comprehensive curriculum which teaches them critical and creative thinking skills, inspires their imaginations and talents, and empowers them to contribute as local and global citizens.
As one of 20 districts to receive an “Accredited with Distinction” rating by the state of Colorado, the district, which serves more than 300 students and boasts a staff of more than 40 full- and part-time professionals, is comprised of an elementary school, middle school and high school.
Preschool and Daycare programs are available in the area as well, all with great reputations for creativity, outdoor engagement and early childhood education.

All Points Transit is a 501c3 non-profit organization providing public transit services for seniors, people with disabilities and the general public in communities throughout Montrose, Delta, San Miguel and Ouray counties.
An offering of All Points Transit, Dial A Ride is a fully accessible, pre-scheduled door to door transportation program, serving predominantly seniors and people with disabilities in communities throughout Montrose and Delta Counties, as well as in Norwood in San Miguel County. All vehicles and routes are open to the public.
All Points Transit operates the West End / San Miguel Regional Shuttle, in partnership with Tri-County Health Network and the Telluride Foundation. The purpose of this program is to transport citizens of San Miguel, Ouray and Montrose Counties to appointments in Montrose and Grand Junction. Those with medical needs take priority, but the shuttle is also open to general public passengers when space is available, who may use it for shopping trips and other errands. The shuttle is scheduled around appointments on a first come, first served basis.
The Colorado Department of Transportation operates Bustang, serving the Ridgway area with bus service through the Bustang Outrider Routes.

Montrose Regional Airport is 30 miles from Telluride and boasts flights with airlines such as American Airlines, United, Delta and Allegiant Air. Nonstop service to and from Denver, Chicago, Newark, Dallas, Houston, Atlanta, Phoenix and Los Angeles.
Telluride Regional Airport (TEX) is 38 miles from Ridgway and one of the highest airports in the country. Flying into and out of TEX is a unique treat. The setting, with breathtaking 360-degree views, is unparalleled as is the convenience of being within a six-mile drive from Telluride and Mountain Village. Several charter companies offer private and convenient flights, as well as fractional ownership opportunities. Charters into Telluride include Mountain Aviation, Incredijet, NetJets, Fresh Air, Marquis Jet and Telluride Air Taxi.
Regional Airports also include Cortez, Durango and Grand Junction.
